Clomid (Clomiphene Citrate)

What it does:

Clomid (Clomiphene Citrate) is a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) commonly used in post-cycle therapy (PCT) to stimulate natural testosterone production. It works by blocking estrogen receptors in the hypothalamus, which signals the pituitary gland to increase luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), leading to elevated testosterone levels.

Normal Applications:

Medically, Clomid is prescribed for female infertility caused by ovulatory dysfunction. In bodybuilding, it’s a core component of PCT regimens used after a steroid cycle to help restore hormonal balance, preserve gains, and prevent testosterone suppression from becoming long-term.

Common Side Effects:

Clomid is generally well tolerated but may cause mood swings, visual disturbances, headaches, nausea, or emotional sensitivity in some users. These effects are dose-dependent and usually resolve after discontinuation. It is not hepatotoxic and does not suppress testosterone like some AIs can.

Administration Recommendations & Ideal Dosages:

Standard PCT dosing begins at 40-50mg per day for 2 weeks, followed by 20-25mg per day for an additional 2–4 weeks. It may be stacked with Nolvadex for enhanced effect. Clomid is most effective when initiated 1–2 weeks after the last injection of long-ester steroids or immediately after orals.
